MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Chief Justice of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Liaquat Shaheen, has called for reforms in the police system, calling it the biggest obstacle in the path of justice.
Chief Justice Sardar Liaquat Shaheen, while talking informally to the lawyers of the Bar Association in Sidhnoti district, said that the biggest obstacle in the timely and effective delivery of justice is substandard and malicious investigation, which has now become inevitable.
He said that reforms in the police investigation system in Azad Kashmir are very necessary, and the judiciary will continue to play its constitutional role in this regard in the future.
The Chief Justice clarified that now it will be mandatory for every investigating officer to record in his report whether, in his opinion, the case is hearable or not.
He warned that if the case is later proven to be false or baseless, legal action will be taken against the concerned investigating officer, and a criminal case will also be registered against him.
