KOTLI (Kashmir English): In a major crackdown, the Kotli Police has arrested eight individuals linked to the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) during an operation in the Tattapani area after receiving intelligence about the alleged presence of an armed group, according to security sources.
The operation was conducted on the night of October 5–6, following information received by authorities. Police arrested eight suspects, including Ayaz Butt, during the action.
According to the sources, the following weapons and equipment were recovered from the suspects:
- 4 SMGs
- 1 pistol
- 600 SMG rounds
- 100 G3 rounds
- 2 hand grenades
- 2 motorcycles
- 1 car
Authorities said further investigation into the arrested individuals and the recovered weapons is underway. Officials also said the operation was part of efforts to counter armed activity and maintain law and order in the region.
