Major diplomatic win for Pakistan as country secures SCO Chairmanship

BISHKEK (Kashmir English): An important and prestigious meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, where a formal and solemn ceremony was held to sign the joint declaration of the meeting.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif attended this international meeting and formally signed the joint declaration covering all the issues of the SCO Council of Heads of State.

According to the unanimous statement issued after the meeting, Pakistan will formally assume the important post of chairmanship of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for the mid-term period of 2026-27.

This announcement is being described as a very important and progressive decision regarding Pakistan’s diplomatic representation at the international and regional levels and the leadership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Other diplomatic activities and bilateral meetings also continued on the occasion of this important meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a special and important meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiar Saidov on the sidelines of the meeting, in which a detailed review of the bilateral affairs of the two countries was taken.

Reiteration of bilateral relations and cooperation

According to the official statement issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson regarding the meeting, during the conversation, the two Foreign Ministers reiterated their full confidence and firm commitment to the strong partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan that has been growing over time.

During the meeting, the direction of further strengthening and sustaining bilateral relations, including further strengthening cooperation with each other in all areas of mutual interest, was discussed in detail.

On this occasion, both leaders fully agreed on the position of further expanding and strengthening the scope of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
