GUJRANWALA: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gujranwala has awarded a life sentence to the prime accused in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan attack case.
The court on Saturday convicted the prime accused, Naveed, to life imprisonment twice and imposed a fine of Rs. 500,000 on separate charges.
The court found Naveed guilty under sections related to terrorism and the murder of Mozzam.
Additionally, he was ordered to serve 3 to 5 years in prison for injuring four others in the attack.
The special court also acquitted two co-accused, Tayyab Jahangir Butt and Waqas, due to lack of sufficient evidence.
The accused opened fire on former prime minister Imran Khan at a political rally in Wazirabad on November 3, 2022. During the firing, Imran Khan and several other leaders were injured during the attack.
