MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The law enforcement agencies have uncovered a large terrorist network in Azad Kashmir, which was plotting to disrupt peace in the region.
In a press conference in Muzaffarabad, accompanying IGP Rana Abdul Jabbar, the Senior Most Minister and Home Minister, Colonel (R) Waqar Ahmed Noor, said that these individuals are operating under the guise of rights to achieve their nefarious objectives.
Noor said that a terrorist, named Saqib Ghani, was arrested at the Azad Pattan entry point with heavy weapons on March 19, 2025.
“During interrogation, Ghani confessed to links with the wanted accused Zarnoosh Naseem, Osama, and Hanzala, involved in the murder of Constable Sajjad Resham on October 27, 2024,” the government minister said.
The accused have confessed to several sabotage operations in Azad Kashmir, including an attempt to set the City Bagh police station on fire and attacks on the Motorway Police Islamabad and Sangjani Toll Plaza, the home minister added.
Moreover, Noor said that after the martyrdom of Constable Sajjid, police launched an investigation in which some suspicious elements were identified.
In the investigation, the accused Zarnoosh Naseem, Osama, and Hanzala emerged as the wanted accused. The investigation also revealed that the terrorists were planning attacks on sensitive places across the state.
“Osama, one of the accused in the Constable murder case, voluntarily surrendered to the law enforcement agencies, and grenades and pistols were recovered from him.
Furthermore, he added, that another accused, Ghazi Shahzad, who escaped from Rawalakot jail, revealed his links with terrorists in Afghanistan.
The senior-most minister added that a terrorist named Abdul Rauf is allegedly misleading innocent youth in the name of Jihad and Sharia in collaboration with Fitna-al-Khawarij.
Minister Waqar Noor stated that there is evidence of planning and financial support for these miscreant incidents coming from India.
“Legal action is being taken against the facilitating elements involved in these incidents,” he added.
The Azad Kashmir government has assured that the region will remain peaceful due to the hard work of security agencies. Home Minister Waqar Noor urged citizens to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and stability.
