PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, contrary to its narratives of austerity measures, has expanded its cabinet to 53 members.
In his recent vlog, senior journalist Irfan Khan exposed the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the extraordinary expansion of the cabinet, and the internal differences within the provincial leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He said that the inclusion of members has once again busted the fake narratives of the government’s austerity measures, burdening the treasury of the KP government.
“On one hand, the KP government is claiming a severe financial crisis in public, while on the other hand, the series of lavish spending and political favors continues without any fear of accountability,” he said.
Journalist Irfan Khan revealed that a large number of 23 new parliamentary secretaries have been appointed under a recent announcement issued by the government on July 21.
After this new addition, the total strength of the provincial cabinet has reached 53, which includes the Chief Minister and 16 ministers, 6 advisors, 8 special assistants and 23 new parliamentary secretaries.
He questioned whether the purpose of Imran Khan’s vision and manifesto was to increase the cabinet’s size to an unprecedented level or whether it is a personal and political agenda of the current Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
In a vlog, journalist Irfan Khan, referring to the KP Assembly session yesterday, said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is currently facing severe political resistance and the toughest opposition from within his own party.
In the important session of the assembly, four prominent PTI lawmakers, Usman Bettani, Shah Turab Khan elected from Hangu, Pakhtun Yar elected from Bannu, and former Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani elected from Abbottabad, openly opened a front against their own government.
These members raised the issue of corruption in government institutions and departments and demanded a transparent investigation, Khan said.
