PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Following the declaration of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, focus is being placed on enhancing the capabilities of the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to improve law and order and make counter-terrorism operations more effective.

In this regard, modern bulletproof vehicles—provided by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi—have arrived at the Bannu Police Lines. The provision of these vehicles aims to offer better protection to police personnel during counter-terrorism operations and to bolster their operational capacity.

The arrival of these modern bulletproof vehicles at the Bannu Police Lines is being viewed as a significant step toward equipping security agencies with the necessary resources.

Their inclusion is expected to provide enhanced protection to the Bannu police while conducting operations in high-risk areas or performing security duties, while also strengthening ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.

In the wake of the emergency, decisions have been made to strengthen the police and the CTD by providing modern equipment, addressing manpower shortages, and enhancing the effectiveness of operations based on intelligence.

During a special security meeting on October 11 and a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on October 12, emphasis was placed on increasing the capacity of law enforcement agencies and implementing coordinated measures against terrorism.

During the tenure of the previous Tehreek-e-Insaf government, questions were frequently raised regarding the province’s security situation and the strategy for countering terrorism.

Now, efforts are underway to make the security apparatus more effective by providing the police with modern resources and enhancing the capabilities of the CTD. However, the outcomes of this strategy will depend on the continuous provision of resources, the training of personnel, intelligence coordination, and the execution of operational actions.

For the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a strong police force signifies more than just counter-terrorism operations; it also encompasses safe movement, the continuity of business activities, and the restoration of normal daily life.

The arrival of modern, bulletproof vehicles at the Bannu Police Lines represents a practical step toward this objective, while the next phase will involve utilizing these resources effectively to enhance the safety of citizens.
