ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Health experts have warned that dry weather or dehydration are not he only reasons for cracked or chapped lips but deficiency of essential vitamins and minerals often play a significant role in this regard.

This issue especially intensifies in winters, causing discomfort, burning sensation, and sores for many individuals.

According to the experts, iron and zinc deficiencies lead to slow healing and recurrent lip cracking, affecting women and children with weakened immune system more frequently.

Experts explain that a deficiency of vitamin B12 can cause lips to become extremely dry and prone to cracking.

To prevent such issues, health professionals suggest a balanced diet. Foods such as eggs, legumes, milk, yogurt, leafy green vegetables, and citrus fruits like orange, tangerines, and lemon help address vitamin deficiencies, while meat, liver, chickpeas, and dry fruits AJK Food Authority cracks down on substandard dry fruits in Muzaffarabadare excellent sources of iron and zinc.
