ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Kia may launch its new Picanto in Pakistan next month through its local partner, Lucky Motor Corporation, according to some reports.
As per a report by auto expert Suneel Munj, Lucky Motor Corporation is readying plans to launch the new Picanto, but the company has not confirmed this information or set any date for introducing the car in the country.
This information comes after Lucky Motor stopped production of the existing Picanto model that was in the country for around six years. The 1,000 cc hatchback has now been removed from Kia’s website, and the bookings for it have also been permanently closed.
Kia had launched the Picanto in the country on September 24, 2019, and it has been part of the company’s lineup for six years before being discontinued.
Munj added that stopping the manufacturing of the existing model doesn’t mean that Kia will completely discontinue the Picanto nameplate in Pakistan. Instead, Lucky Motor is working to launch a new model of the hatchback in the market.
However, Lucky Motors has not announced any key specifications related to the car, nor has the release date been confirmed.
Earlier, KIA Pakistan sparked speculations about the possibility of an upcoming launch, Sportage L, after sharing a cryptic teaser on its official social media platforms.
Though the company has not disclosed the name of the variant, the teaser appears to feature the rear lighting design of the updated Kia Sportage L.
The distinctive LED taillight design closely resembles the facelifted model already introduced in several world markets.
The teaser has quickly invited the attention of local SUV lovers and automotive enthusiasts, many of whom believe the company is preparing to launch the Sportage L Facelift in Pakistan.
The renowned South Korean automotive brand introduced the fifth-generation Sportage L in the local market in February 2025.
The SUV was offered in Alpha, front-wheel-drive and hybrid variants.
The expected facelift could expand the model’s appeal by bringing a revised design, improved cabin technology and additional safety features.
The updated Sportage L made its international debut in late 2024 with major styling and technology changes.
The facelift received a redesigned front and rear profile, updated lighting elements, a refreshed interior and a more advanced infotainment setup.
