BRUSSELS (Kashmir English): Chairman Kashmir Council (KC) European Union (EU) Ali Raza Syed has said that the world community should play its role in stopping extrajudicial killings in occupied Kashmir.
In a statement highlighting the recent incidents of Indian atrocities in the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Ali Raza Syed said that there have been many incidents of extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris in recent weeks.
He said that the martyrdom of three Kashmiris in Kishtwar district of occupied Kashmir is the latest of extrajudicial killings, about which the Indian army said that these three people were killed as a result of firing. He said, according to locals, the Indian military killed these youths during the siege.
The Kashmir Council EU’s Chairman said that these incidents are continuation of Indian oppression of Kashmiris.
Search operations in occupied Kashmir
According to media reports, the Indian army surrounded the area during a search operation in Kishtwar district of occupied Kashmir and martyred three Kashmiri youth on the occasion.
Syed said the Indian forces continue to violate basic human rights norms by extra judicial killings and carrying out arbitrary arrests and house raids.
Women, children, and even the elderly are not spared, and the entire population lives under a constant state of fear and surveillance.
He said that now the Indian authorities are pressuring some Kashmiris to make statements against the Kashmir freedom movement, which is completely against the principles of freedom of expression.
“This is a very high-handed tactic by India and is unacceptable.”
The Kashmir Council EU’s Chair urged the global community, the United Nations, world human rights organizations, and all peace-loving nations to take serious notice of India’s systematic violations of international law.
The Kashmir conflict poses a significant threat to regional peace and stability, and a peaceful resolution is essential and long overdue, Syed opined.
He called for immediate diplomatic pressure on India to end its brutal campaign and allow the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination as guaranteed by UN resolutions.
