LONDON (Kashmir English): The Kashmiri diaspora in the United Kingdom (UK) is set to hold a protest demonstration in London on August 5 to mark six years since the abrogation of the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest, organized under the joint platform of Kashmiri parties in the UK, will start from 10 Downing Street, the British Prime Minister’s House, and proceed to the Indian High Commission.
The demonstration aims to raise public opinion on the Kashmir issue at the international level and express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
This was decided at an all-party conference under the All-Party International Kashmir Coordination Committee in Birmingham, chaired by the President of the Coordination Committee, Raja Fahim Kayani.
The meeting was attended by prominent Kashmiri leaders, including Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe President Muhammad Ghalib and Jamaat-e-Islami convener Raja Qamar Abbas.
Speakers at the meeting condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, as a violation of international agreements and human rights. They demanded that the international community take practical steps to grant the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
Secretary General of the Coordination Committee, Inam, said that this march will be a strong public voice and demonstration against India’s aggression, oppression, and tyranny.
“India is a tyrant and a murderer of humanity, and its evil intentions are a serious threat to regional peace,” it added.
The meeting decided that a comprehensive communication campaign will be launched to mobilize the public through mosques, community centers, educational institutions, and social media.
The protest aims to shake the global conscience and expose India’s false narrative on Kashmir.
