Kashmir Parliamentary Conference at Westminster reiterates global commitment to self-determination

LONDON (Kashmir English): The Kashmir Parliamentary Conference has reaffirmed unwavering support for the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and their right to self-determination as guaranteed by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

The event was organised by the Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI). Founding Chairman JKSDMI Raja Najabat Hussain was the key in organizing the moot which was held at Westminster with the support of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir.

Support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination

The event was attended by over 20 British parliamentarians and delegates who reiterated their unwavering support and expressed solidarity with the people in IIOJK. They also backed the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, Dr Muhammad Faisal, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Tahir Ali MP, Senior Vice Chairman of the APPG on Kashmir, presided over the moot. The event brought together a powerful cross-section of British political leadership.

Meanwhile, a high-profile delegation from the Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement International led by Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain submitted a petition to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the Rt. Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP, urging the British government to take decisive action on the ongoing Kashmir issue.

The petition called for the immediate release of political prisoners in the occupied Kashmir, investigation into human rights violations at international forum, and a renewed commitment to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The JKSDMI delegation comprised prominent community leaders and activists, including Raja Najabat Hussain Chairman JKSDMI, Javed Tariq Secretary General JKSDMI UK, Mohammed Zeshan Araf Chairman JKSDMI Youth Wing, Asia Hussain Chairperson JKSDMI Birmingham, and Nadia Jaffery Chairperson JKSDMI.
