ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Journalist Bilal Ghauri has been arrested following an NCCIA complaint regarding the notified appointment of the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
The NCCIA registered a case against Ghauri under Sections 20 and 26-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
According to the FIR, the case relates to allegedly false and misleading content shared through social media. The registration of the case follows a complaint submitted to the cybercrime investigation agency.
According to NCCIA, the content mixed official notification language with unverified claims about promotion intelligence mechanisms & institutional motives, potentially undermining public trust and creating unrest.
The accused has been taken into custody following legal permission.
