ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), headed by All Parties Hurriyat Conference incarcerated Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, has voiced deep concern over the deteriorating health of senior Hurriyat leader and Democratic Freedom Party Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in New Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, APHC-AJK leader and Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League convener, in a statement issued in Islamabad, called on the international community to urgently intervene to save Shabbir Shah’s life and pressure India to ensure his immediate release.
Mateen emphasized that Shabbir Shah has spent 38 years of his life in different Indian jails for leading a peaceful political struggle for the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
He noted that Shah has been detained since July 2017 under fabricated charges, and despite eight years of incarceration, Indian authorities have failed to produce any credible evidence against him in court.
Recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, Shabbir Shah requires urgent medical treatment and special care, which cannot be provided in prison, Mateen said.
He added that the worsening condition of Shabbir Shah is causing grave concern among the people of Kashmir, who are deeply worried about their beloved leader’s life.
