MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The transporters’ day-long strike in the Jhelum Valley ended on Tuesday following successful negotiations between the Transport Union and the district administration.
During the day, the public transport remained completely shut down, causing inconvenience to commuters.
The strike was called in protest against the unilateral issuance of route permits by the Transport Authority.
The transporters claim that the Transport Authority issued a permit for the Chakothi route from Rawalpindi without an official schedule, which they consider illegal.
The transporters said that they had informed the district administration about the issue, but due to a lack of attention, they have stopped public transport and staged a protest.
All public transport services from Muzaffarabad to Chakothi, Reshiyan, Chakar, and Bagh remained suspended due to the strike.
