ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent press conference, the federal Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that the planning of the Islamabad Judicial Complex blast was done by the Indian- backed Khwarijs in Afghanistan.
The Information Minister further stated that the brave security forces of Pakistan successfully foiled the attack in time and the terrorists failed to reach their desired location, saving hundreds of lives.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, while sharing these details with the media, said that the initial assessment of the investigation has revealed the name of Noor Mehsud as the mastermind of the attack, who planned the attack through Sajidullah. Sajidullah has been described as the main handler of the attacker.
The Information Minister said that both the suicide bomber and the handler belong to Afghanistan. He said that the attacker was an Afghan national named Shinwari, who entered Pakistan before the attack in Islamabad.
Moreover, the information obtained about the attacker’s network makes it clear that he had direct contact with terrorist groups present on Afghan soil.
According to Attaullah Tarar, Sajidullah alias ‘Sheena’ was the handler of the suicide bomber, who had gone to Afghanistan last year.
He stated that Sajidullah went to Jalalabad, Afghanistan, in 2024. On reaching Kabul from Jalalabad, he was briefed about the Islamabad blast plan.
The Federal Information Minister further said that security agencies have taken timely action and arrested 4 facilitators. These include those who provided shelter, transportation, and local support to the attacker.
According to sources, important information is being obtained from the arrested persons, while more raids and possible arrests are also expected.
Attaullah Tarar stressed that ‘the attack was a conspiracy of networks across the border’. He said that the evidence found so far shows that terrorist elements who are trying to spread instability in Pakistan are behind the attack. He said that Pakistani agencies are collecting more evidence to expose the international links of this network.
Security in Islamabad was further tightened after the attack. Additional personnel were deployed around court buildings and sensitive government installations.
Attaullah Tarar said that the government is taking all measures to ensure the safety of citizens and is determined to root out this terrorist network.
