HATTIAN BALA (Kashmir English): Residents of the Jhelum Valley district have been struggling with a complete shutdown of Special Communications Organization (SCOM) internet service for the past two weeks.
The disruption has severely impacted educational activities, business operations, and government affairs, causing significant difficulties for users.
The affected areas include Hattian Bala, Chakar, Chinari, and the surrounding areas.
Students attending online classes are facing immense challenges due to the lack of internet connectivity. Citizens working on digital platforms are experiencing severe mental stress due to the prolonged disruption.
Despite repeated complaints, SCOM senior officials have shown reluctance in resolving the issue. Users have not received satisfactory responses from the office and helpline.
Citizens said that the local administration has also failed to provide a clear position on the matter. Users have demanded that the service be restored immediately and that effective steps be taken to avoid such long shutdowns in the future.
