ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has said that the induction of eight HANGOR Class submarines will significantly enhance Pakistan Navy’s defence capabilities.

In his message on 54th HANGOR Day being observed today, he said Pakistan Navy places special emphasis on sub-surface warfare, and our ongoing submarine acquisition programme with China bears testimony to this vision.

The Naval Chief said 54 years ago, on this day, PN submarine HANGOR created history by sinking INS KHUKRI and crippling INS KIRPAN.

Hangor Day is a bright symbol of the immortal bravery of “Submarine Hangor” and the impregnable defense of Pakistan. On December 9, 1971, Hangor sank the enemy ship Kukri and severely damaged the Karpan, thereby destroying Indian naval pride.

Regarding this day, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said:
On December 9, 1971, the crew of Hangor created a glorious history of valor and courage, which is still etched in the minds of the enemy.

Even in 1971, the Pakistan Navy was a leaden wall in the sea for the enemy, and even today it is an iron wall on the country’s maritime borders, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces

This day convinces us that Pakistan desires peace but is determined to defend its sovereignty and homeland. , Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces
