MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), AJK Chapter, and the State Health Department hosted 4-day joint Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Workshop aimed to ensure immediate due role of volunteers to effectively deal with any eventuality.
Holding of the workshop was aimed at to enhance preparedness, response and coordination among stakeholders.
The workshop brought together participants from District Health Office Mirpur, Rescue 1122, Civil defence and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
Chairman PRCS inaugurates workshop
The Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society AJK Sardar Shafique Ahmed Khan inaugurated the workshop, lauding the humanitarian efforts of the ICRC. Shafique reiterated to support these efforts in AJK through collaboration.
Sessions covered key topics such as triage systems, emergency response coordination, pre-hospital care, hospital surge capacity, communication protocols, and simulation-based exercises to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and role clarity during emergencies.
Besides the Medical Superintendent Mirpur AJK Divisional Teaching Hospital Dr. Sardar Amir Aziz Khan, DMS Mirpur DHQ Teaching Hospital Dr Maria Zulfiqar, the PRCS Mirpur First Aid Responders (FAR) Team members, Health Dept medical and para medical staffers, 1122 and AJK Civil Defence volunteers and other stakeholders participated and facilitated the activity at Kashmir Institute of Cardiology Mirpur Complex under the supervision of the State Health and FAPHEC Coordinator AJK. A total of 20 volunteers joined the activity performing mock drill on the occasion.
