SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): Hurriyat leaders in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have reiterated their call for observing August 5 (Tuesday) as “Youm-e-Istehsal” (Day of Exploitation) to mark the anniversary of India’s revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyat leaders and parties, including jailed APHC General Secretary Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Merajuddin, Javed Changa, Syed Imtiyaz Ahmed Khan, Prof Zuberi, Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muslim Khawateen Marak, Kashmir Tehreek Khawateen, Jammu and Kashmir Students and Youth Forum and Jammu and Kashmir National Front in their separate statements in Srinagar have termed the move a part of a larger conspiracy aimed at altering the region’s demographic makeup and denying Kashmiris their rights to land, identity, employment, and political autonomy.

They strongly warned that the aggressive and expansionist policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are pushing South Asia to the brink of a catastrophic conflict.
