SPAIN (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s young squash player Hamza Khan has qualified for the semi-finals of the  Valencia Open Squash tournament in Spain.

Hamza defeated France’s 7th seed Brice Nicholls 0-3 in the quarter-finals.

The Pakistani player won the 42-minute match with a score of 13-11, 11-2, 11-6.

On Wednesday, in his second-round match, Hamza decisively defeated Egypt’s third seed, Yassin Elshafei, with a commanding 3-0 victory. He clinched the match in just 29 minutes, with scores of 11-9, 11-3, and 11-8.

Notably, the prize money of the Valencia Open Squash tournament in Spain is $15,000.

Earlier, Pakistan delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Junior Squash Championship 2025, securing a total of seven medals in the prestigious tournament held in Islamabad.

The event brought together top young talent from across Asia, and Pakistani players made their mark with skill and determination.

Among the standout performers was Abdullah Nawaz, who advanced to the semi-finals in the boys’ U-19 category with a commanding 3-0 victory.

In the U-15 boys’ category, both Nauman Khan and Ahmed Rayan Khalil showed remarkable talent by making it to the semi-finals.

The U-13 boys’ division saw Sohail Adnan reach the final four, while in the girls’ U-13 group, Mahnoor Ali also impressed by reaching the semi-finals.

The tournament saw a strong start for Pakistan, with the junior team winning nine out of eleven matches on the first day. This strong showing laid the foundation for their medal success in the later rounds of the Asian Junior Squash Championship.
