ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government on Saturday announced to maintain the petrol price for the next fortnight, starting from March 16(Sunday).

The Finance Division has issued a notification in this regard, which will be effective from tomorrow.

According to a notification, petrol will be available for Rs255.63 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will remain at Rs258.64 after a reduction of Rs5.31 per litre.

“The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reviewed and adjusted consumer prices for petroleum products given recent fluctuations in the international oil market,” stated the notification.

The price of kerosene oil will remain at Rs168.12. Likewise, the price of light-diesel oil will also remain unchanged by Rs2.47 from Rs155.81 to Rs153.34 per litre.

PM Shehbaz Sharif has indicated that while retaining the prices of petroleum at the previous level, it has been decided to pass its complete financial benefit to the public in the form of electricity prices.

According to him, this action is just one of several that will result in a significant drop in electricity costs.

The specifics of a thorough and successful plan to lower electricity bills are being finalized, according to Shehbaz Sharif, who also stated that a package is being created.

He said that a package is prepared to significantly lower electricity costs for the general public using the financial resources generated by the fluctuation in oil prices on the international market, among other measures.
