ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Geo Network channels are no longer being streamed on Tamasha, one of Pakistan’s leading and most-watched digital streaming platforms.
The development means Tamasha users can no longer access Geo’s live channels through the app, though no official reason has yet been announced by either platform.
Senior Journalist Talat Hussain’s Response:
Senior journalist Syed Talat Hussain says the action taken over the Geo documentary may appear severe, including the channel’s shutdown, warnings, and YouTube closure, but he believes it prevented the matter from escalating into a much larger public controversy. According to him, the swift administrative action has created room for the issue to be resolved.
GeoDocumentary Mess. While it looks bad (channel shutdown, warnings and even YouTube closure) it could have been worse. In the absence of this action this could have gone to the public realm and all sorts of extreme things could have happened, beyond anyone’s control. #Geo #PEMRA

He further said that Geo’s prompt apology and compliance helped defuse what could have become a highly combustible situation. Talat Hussain expressed hope that the matter would now be resolved with the right lessons learned by all sides.
