LADAKH (Kashmir English): At least four people were killed and 70 were injured in firing by Indian forces, as a civil disobedience movement against Indian brutality started in the Ladakh region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, violent protests are taking place in Ladakh, due to which Ladakh is coming out of India’s grip.
The Indian government imposed curfew in Ladakh, and people took to the streets to challenge Indian occupation.
Chief Minister of occupied Kashmir Omar Abdullah also supported the protests and said that the people of Ladakh feel cheated and angry. If Ladakh is feeling deprived and disappointed today, how deep will be the sorrow of the people of Jammu and Kashmir?
According to sources, Indian forces fired tear gas and heavily baton-charged protesters demanding their constitutional rights in Ladakh.
During violent protests against Indian occupation, 5 Indian soldiers were killed, 10 CRPF personnel were injured, protesters in Leh set fire to 3 BJP offices, 15 Indian forces’ checkpoints, and a police van was also set on fire.
The situation in the Leh region of Ladakh is tense; curfew and strict restrictions have been imposed, and the protest is being led by the Kargil Democratic Alliance and the Leh Apex Body, while the Indian occupation administration has announced negotiations with the protesters.
On the other hand, the leadership of the Ladakh protesters has demanded restoration of autonomy, statehood, and implementation of the Sixth Schedule.
Protest leader Thapastan Tswang said that the sacrifices of the youth will not go in vain, while other leaders urged the people to continue the peaceful struggle.
On the other hand, Lieutenant Governor Kavendra Gupta, in a video message, appealed to the citizens to end the violence and maintain peace.
The district administration has immediately banned gatherings and protest activities. The Indian Home Ministry says that talks are ongoing with the leaders of Ladakh, and the next round will be on October 6.
