Former govt secretary Khawaja Ahsan takes oath as senior member of AJK Election Commission

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Former Secretary to the Government, Khawaja Muhammad Ahsan, on Wednesday, took oath as Senior Member of the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ahead of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections in the region.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the New Civil Secretariat, Muzaffarabad, on Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner of AJK, Justice (R) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, administered the oath of office to Khawaja Ahsan.

The ceremony was attended by Member Election Commission Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan Gilani, Secretary Election Commission Raja Muhammad Shakeel Khan, former Member Election Commission Farhat Ali Mir, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Irshad Ahmed Qureshi, Chairman District Council Imtiaz Ahmed Abbasi, Vice Chairman Bar Council Haroon Riaz Mughal, lawyers, and other concerned officials.

Draftsman Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Department Raja Zahid Mahmood read out the notification of the appointment of the senior member of the Election Commission, while Secretary Election Commission Raja Shakeel Khan conducted the duties of the ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, Secretary of the Election Commission Raja Muhammad Shakeel Khan led a prayer.
