MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and senior politician Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on Wednesday parted ways with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after differences with the party over the distribution of tickets for the upcoming general elections in the state.
According to reliable sources, Tanveer Ilyas was seeking tickets from four constituencies from the Pakistan Peoples Party, including from Central Bagh and Neelum.
As per details, the party had issued tickets to veteran politician Sardar Zia Al-Qamar from the Central Bagh constituency.
Sources further said that the former premier has sent his resignation to Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Last night, the central leadership of the PPP, including the Governor of Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider, also visited Tanveer Ilyas’ house, however, he remained steadfast in his stance.
Moreover, AJK government minister and Tanveer Ilyas’s aide Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni has also resigned from the PPP and the ministry.
