JEHLUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): The Food Authority AJK took action conducting a Food Safety Operation in Jhelum Valley against shopkeepers selling substandard products by conducting inspections, fining violators, and warning businesses to improve food safety standards today.
The Food Authority has launched an operation in the Jhelum Valley district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) against shopkeepers selling unhealthy edible oil and substandard meat. During the inspection, authorities collected milk samples, and those found to contain more than 18 per cent adulteration were penalised on the spot. The crackdown aims to ensure that consumers receive safe and quality food products.
As part of the operation, fines were imposed on violators who were caught selling unhygienic food items. Officials emphasised that strict action would continue against those compromising public health by selling low-quality and contaminated food products. Businesses which do not follow food safety standards will suffer extreme penalties.
Inspections exposed that various packaged food items at different establishments did not satisfy quality expectations. The Food Authority found red chilli powder from Islam Foods spice and black tea, Saba Tea and Al-Farooq Tea to be of substandard quality.
Consumer health safety became a concern due to these household items because they failed to satisfy their specified safety and hygiene requirements. The responsible companies received enforcement from the Food Authority while the authority announced that new violations would result in increased penalties.
Officials ordered all food suppliers, together with shopkeepers, to follow health regulations by checking that products have proper quality standards as a condition to sell them. All consumers must stay alert to any dubious or substandard food products sold in the market and report suspicious items immediately.
The Food Authority runs this operation as part of its sustained initiative to strengthen food safety measures throughout the area. The authority maintains that it will perform regular inspections and impose strict measures against all violating cases. The public must exercise caution when buying edible products, especially milk, meat and packaged foods, according to recent tests.
The Food Authority uses this operation to warn publicly those who engage in food adulteration while demonstrating its dedication to protecting public health through sanitary product delivery to consumers.
