NEELUM (Kashmir English): The Food Department Neelum has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the use of subsidized flour to ensure that it is not sold for commercial use.

The directives include that dealers are bound to provide flour only to the affected population.

The Food Director instructed that if any dealer commits a violation or any inspector commits misconduct, legal action will be taken against them.

“Official flour should not be sold to hotels or guest houses. If found, an FIR will be registered against the owner,” it added.

Furthermore, the SOPs added that flour will be provided only to registered dealers, stating that if a dealer provides flour to a private shopkeeper, their license will be canceled.

“Rice will be stored in government warehouses or farmers’ shops (where there is no government warehouse) and sold at government-fixed prices,” it added.

Moreover, it added that empty sacks will not be provided to consumers purchasing 40, 20, or 10 kg of rice in the presence of 80 kg sacks.

“Sacks will be provided only for purchases of 80 kg of rice, according to family members.”

The Food Department has warned that legal action will be taken against dealers and inspectors found violating these directives. The public is encouraged to report any complaints or misconduct, the SPOs added.
