MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir Digital): The Muzaffarabad Food Authority team, in a prompt action, seized a large quantity of unregistered edible oil at Kohala check post.

The oil was being brought into Azad Kashmir from Punjab. According to District Food Controller Muzaffarabad, Abrar Ahmed Mir, the action was taken under a recent decision, which clearly instructed that unregistered, substandard, and edible oil without a laboratory report would not be allowed to enter the limits of Azad Kashmir.

The District Food Controller stated that unregistered oil contains substandard ingredients, poor refining, and harmful chemicals, which can prove harmful to health.

The use of such oil leads to serious problems such as heart and liver diseases, increased blood pressure and cholesterol, and digestive system disorders.

Samples of seized oil sent for laboratory analysis

According to the Food Authority, samples of the seized oil have been sent for laboratory analysis, while strict legal action is being taken against the involved individuals.

The Food Authority has appealed to the public to use only registered, standard, and Food Authority-approved brands of oil, and to immediately report substandard products to the Authority’s office or on social media platforms.

The District Food Controller Muzaffarabad has clarified that such actions will continue consistently to protect public health.
