MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Food Authority Muzaffarabad has sealed a hotel and fined several other food outlets during an operation at Gujjar Bypass and Plat.
According to details, Assistant Food Safety Officer Qazi Shafiq-ur-Rehman of Azad Kashmir Food Authority Muzaffarabad, along with his team, conducted surprise inspections of various hotels, bakeries, and naan shops in Gujjar Bypass and Plat areas.
Food quality, cleanliness arrangements inspected
During the operation, action was taken against the hotels, bakeries, and naan shops for violation of SOPs. The quality of food items and cleanliness arrangements were meticulously inspected.
During the operation, kitchen area, production area, cleanliness of utensils, and quality of food items were checked. Due to poor hygiene, one hotel and a naan shop were sealed, while heavy fines were imposed and warning notices were issued to several food business operators.
Strict action was taken against several outlets for poor hygiene arrangements, food handlers not wearing head covers and gloves, and food items being kept in poor conditions.
On this occasion, District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir said that the primary objective of the Food Authority is to ensure the provision of quality and healthy food to the public.
He said the quality of food items is directly linked to public health, and added all food business operators should fulfill their responsibilities regarding cleanliness and quality.
He appealed to citizens to report elements violating food safety laws by calling the Food Authority’s given number 1280 so that immediate action could be taken against them.
