MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Food Authority Jhelum Valley has taken timely action in Hattian Bala, seizing a large quantity of unregistered snacks [papads] that could have posed a serious threat to the children’s health.

As per the statement, the Food Authority team raided a factory and seized a large quantity of unhealthy snacks that were prepared for children without laboratory reports.

“Action has been initiated against the responsible parties under the Food Authority Act 2017,” it reads.

District Food Controller Muzaffarabad/Jhelum Valley, Abrar Ahmed Mir, has appealed to parents to give only those food items to children that come to the market after the food quality report.

He also appealed to teachers to educate children in schools to protect them from the harm of harmful products.

The Food Authority has emphasized that trading or selling unregistered products in Azad Kashmir is a legal offense under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Act 2017 and Pure Food Regulations 2019.

“Food business operators are required to ensure implementation of the Food Authority’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and only sell products that have been laboratory analyzed,” it added.
