Five Police officers martyred as van plunges into ravine in Bagh

BAGH (Kashmir English): In a heartbreaking incident, a Toli Peer police van accident claimed the lives of five police officers after the vehicle plunged into a deep ravine in the mountainous region of Toli Peer in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the District Control Room in Bagh, the police van was travelling from Lasdana to Toli Peer when it met with a fatal accident.

The deceased officers were identified as Inspector Ali Ahmad Bukhari from the Regional Office Rawalakot, Inspector Naveed Ahmad, Inspector Yasir Arafat, Additional Director Zakir Hussain from the Regional Office Rawalakot, and Muhammad Faheem from the Accounts Branch, also in Rawalakot. All five officers were martyred on the spot.

The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police (SP) Bagh immediately departed with the rescue team to reach the accident site.

Upon arrival, they confirmed the martyrdom of all officers involved in the Toli Peer police van accident. The control room in Muzaffarabad also verified the identities of the deceased.

Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of five police officers in the tragic Toli Peer police van accident.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and offered prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.

In response to the incident, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) instructed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Poonch to launch an immediate inquiry into the cause of the accident.

He also directed the local administration to carry out rescue operations promptly and efficiently. Acting on his special instructions, the Deputy Commissioner and SP quickly arrived at the location to supervise the efforts.
