SEOUL (Kashmir English): Pakistani Squash stars continue to shine in the 32nd edition of the Asian Junior Squash Championship as five players have reached to the semi final stage.
Five star players, including Mahnoor Ali, managed to make it to the semi-finals. With these victories, Pakistan’s has made to clinch 5 medals in the championship.
Out of the six national junior players participating in various events of the ongoing Asian Junior Squash Championship, five athletes won their quarter-final matches.
In the Boys Under-19 event, seed 3 Abdullah Nawaz defeated Hong Kong’s Wang W 0-3. Abdullah Nawaz won the first game 4-11, the second game 6-11 and the third game 6-11 to reach the semi-finals.
Top seed Noman Khan easily defeated Indian player Harshal 0-3. Another Pakistani player, Ahmed Rehan Khalil, defeated Malaysia’s Arman 0-3 in an easy match in the Boys Under-15 event.
In the Boys’ Under-13 event, top seed Sohail Irfan defeated India’s Abhay Yadav 0-3 without losing a game. Sohail Irfan won the first game 2-11, the second game 3-11 and the third game 3-11.
In the Girls’ Under-13, seeded 9 Mahnoor Ali defeated India’s Anika 0-3, however, in the Girls’ Under-15, Sehrish Ali was defeated by Malaysia’s Sethi 0-3.
Earlier, Six out of nine Pakistani players had made it to the quarterfinals, however, Anas Ali Shah in the Boys’ Under-19 event, Muhammad Umair Arif in the Boys’ Under-17 and Mehwish Ali in the Girls’ Under-17 faced failure.
Nine out of 11 Pakistani players who participated in the first round of the championship were successful. Yahya Khan (Boys Under-17) and Muhammad Mustafa Khan (Boys Under-13) failed in the first round and were eliminated from the championship.
