ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad has created history with the first-ever successful robotic surgery performed in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, PIMS.
This groundbreaking procedure represents a technological leap for Pakistan’s healthcare system and can improve precision and safety during complex surgeries.
Hospital officials said the advanced “To My Surgical Robot” system was used during the operation, which was carried out successfully at PIMS.
It involved experts from the UK in carrying out the procedure, who worked hand in hand with local surgeons to ensure that the operation was a success.
The team of doctors that headed the operation included Professor Shamim Khan, Professor Mateen Sharif, and Dr. Javed Burki, who headed the entire procedure.
Indeed, their expertise allowed the robot technology to be seamlessly integrated into the hospital.
In the future, robotic surgery will make complex operations much safer and more effective, says PIMS medical experts Dr. Atif Inam Shami, Dr. Burhan-ul-Haq, and Dr. Khalid Saeed.
The technology allows for minimal incisions, quicker recovery times, and greater accuracy than is possible with traditional surgical methods.
