Field Marshal Asim Munir visits POF, reviews defence production

TAXILA (Kashmir English): Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF), Wah Cantt, on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations  (ISPR), the visit reviewed the POF’s production capacity, export potential and its role in the country’s defence industrial base.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was briefed on the various activities of POF and the institution’s role in strengthening national defence through domestic production of various types of military equipment.

The Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces also witnessed the testing and trial stages of locally designed and manufactured weapons and ammunition.

The POF’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance and increasing defence production capacity was highlighted on the occasion.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also briefed on the progress in the corporatisation process of POF following the enactment of the Defence Industry Production Reforms Act (DEPRA) Ordinance.

He was also briefed on the ongoing steps to increase local production and industrial capacity, especially the installation of two new industrial plants, which are expected to start production by the end of this year.

According to the ISPR, the visit reaffirmed the military leadership’s commitment to promoting self-reliance, local production and technological innovation in the defense sector.
