ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday rejected the viral notification regarding the extension of the deadline for filing income tax returns for tax year 2026.
“The letter circulating in the media about the extension of the income tax return filing date for Tax Year 2026 is fake,” the authority said in a post shared on X.
A notification circulating on social media claimed that the deadline had been extended until October 15, adding that it was decided on “in view of the requests from various trade bodies, taxpayers and tax bar associations”.
However, the FBR said that “no such circular has been issued”, clarifying that the deadline for income tax return submission for the tax year 2026 remains Sept 30.
