ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Reports circulating on social media and in some sections of international press, particularly attributed to the Tehran Times claiming that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will depart on an “emergency trip” to Saudi Arabia regarding US-Iran negotiations have been debunked as fake news.

Contrary to these rumours, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently in Islamabad, where he is actively hosting and facilitating high-stakes, face-to-face peace talks between the United States and Iran.

Throughout April 11 and 12, 2026, the Prime Minister has been physically present in the federal capital.

On Saturday, he held separate high-level meetings with both the US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, and the Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Rather than travelling abroad, Sharif has officially described the current Islamabad negotiations as a “make or break” moment for regional stability.

Official sources have denied any schedule for an emergency trip to Saudi Arabia as the actual diplomatic activity continues here in the federal capital, where the US and Iran are holding their most crucial direct talks since 1979.

The social media reports regarding PM Shehbaz’s possible trip to Saudi Arabia are unsupported by any credible source and have been flagged as misinformation.
