SWAT (Kashmir English): Claims circulating on social media that the disabled and ailing mother of fugitive former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed was evicted from her home in an act of political retaliation have been rejected by the administration, which says the action involved a separate government-owned property.

According to the administration’s account, the viral claim was shared through a tweet circulated by accounts affiliated with PTI, including that of Member of the National Assembly Iqbal Afridi.

Officials stated that on October 20, 2026, the Commissioner of Malakand Division oversaw the vacation of a government-owned residential property in Swat on the directions of the relevant authorities.

The property was reportedly occupied by Kaleem Saeed, Murad Saeed’s brother, who serves as a Tax Assistant in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The administration maintained that the action was intended to reclaim a government residence allegedly under illegal occupation.

Did the Administration Evict Murad Saeed’s Mother?

According to the administration, Murad Saeed’s parents and other family members live in their ancestral home in the Kabal area of Swat district. Officials therefore rejected reports claiming that his mother or father had been evicted from their residence.

The administration further stated that its action was limited to the government-owned property and that no contact was made with family members during the process.

What Happened to the Government Property?

Officials said the property was reclaimed as part of an effort to recover government residences allegedly occupied without authorization. The administration added that efforts to identify and recover other government properties in the Swat and Malakand divisions were continuing.

The statement rejected the portrayal of the operation as the eviction of an ailing mother or an attack on Pashtun traditions, arguing that the action concerned the recovery of state property rather than the removal of Murad Saeed’s parents from their ancestral home.
