ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Information Minister Atta Tarar has termed the sentence handed down to former Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed as a historic decision.
While talking to the media, Atta Tarar said that Faiz Hameed’s misuse of his authority has led to this decision. He further added that the sentence is a historic decision and a victory for truth and justice. He added that the Pakistan Army system is very strong and the legal mechanism is strong. Evidence was presented for a long time in this case, and the statements of witnesses were recorded.
The Federal Minister clarified that Faiz Hameed, as the political advisor of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had conspired in the country, and today’s decision is an important milestone for him. He said that Faiz Hameed crossed the red line, became the political advisor of PTI despite the ban on political activities after retirement, and provided his full political support.
Atta Tarar added that he has been proven guilty of spreading chaos and rebelling against the state in the May 9 incidents. He also cited the housing society case and the use of illegal powers as examples and said that all of these are undeniable. He said that this is a landmark decision that has strengthened the law and justice system.
The Federal Minister said that Faiz Hameed was given a full opportunity for a fair trial, evidence and witnesses were presented in his defense, political matters were also investigated, and everything has been proven against Faiz Hameed. He said that political affiliation was very high, and as a PTI political advisor, conspiracies were made and chaos was spread in the country.
Atta Tarar said that May 9 is a serious matter, and an investigation is underway on it. The serious situation of the political assistant is also being investigated. He clarified that all these were attempts to weaken the writ of the state, which failed.
