LONDON (Kashmir English): Several speculations have been circulating regarding the death of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain, as he was hospitalised in London due to severe illness on Friday.

Several posts have been shared on social media sites, especially Facebook, claiming that Altaf Hussain has died in a local hospital in London at the age of 71, which lacks authenticity.

MQM party leader Mustafa Azizabadi, taking on social media, confirmed that “Altaf Hussain has been admitted to a hospital due to severe illness, where various tests have been conducted on him.”

However, no party official or Hussain’s family members have confirmed the MQM leader’s death, rejecting the rumors on social media.

Earlier, Azizabadi said that doctors at a local hospital in London examined Altaf on Friday and “prescribed various diagnostic tests, including blood tests, ECG, CT scan, X-ray, and ultrasound.”

“Mr Altaf Hussain has long been suffering from severe emotional stress, which included the domestic and international geo-political situations, multiple lawsuits in London, and fiscal difficulties,” he wrote on his X handle.

Altaf Hussain has been living in self-exile in London since 1992, where he was later granted British citizenship. Hussain remained active in Pakistani politics, regularly delivering speeches and messages through phone calls to his followers in Pakistan.
