NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that the Kashmir issue needs to be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions, while noting that Gaza has become the most inhumane and shameful detention camp of our time.
Addressing the UN General Assembly, President Erdoğan remarked that Gaza has turned into the most inhumane and shameful detention camp of our era.
He highlighted that terrorism by Jewish settlers continues in the West Bank as Muslims are being denied access to holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, and while Palestinian resistance has agreed to a peace plan, Israel refuses to end its occupation of Gaza.
He mentioned the establishment of a defense alliance with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, noting that the alliance aims to strengthen unity and seek solutions to regional problems from within the region itself.
The Turkish President reiterated the need to resolve the Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions and affirmed that Turkey would champion the cause of an independent Palestine.
He noted the absence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from the assembly for the second consecutive year, acknowledged that the vast majority of UN member states recognize the State of Palestine, and pledged to continue conveying Palestine’s voice to the world, just as was done last year.
Erdoğan stated that he would continue to present the Palestinian people’s stance from the UN platform, advocate for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, and ensure the world hears the position of the Palestinian people.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also stated that the continuation of conflicts in the Middle East serves no one’s interests.
He added that he would persist in efforts to bring an end to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
