MEXICO CITY (Kashmir English): England secured a place in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup after defeating hosts Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling pre-quarterfinal clash.

Jude Bellingham starred for the Three Lions with two goals, while captain Harry Kane added another as England overcame a spirited Mexican challenge to advance to the last eight of the tournament.

Mexico fought hard in front of their home supporters, with Quique Nance and Jimenez finding the back of the net, but their efforts were not enough to prevent England from progressing.

The match took a dramatic turn in the second half when England were reduced to 10 men in the 54th minute after defender Jarell Quansah was shown a red card by the referee and sent off.

Despite being a player down for much of the second half, England held firm and managed to protect their lead to secure a memorable victory.

With the win, England have booked a quarter-final showdown against Norway, who produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by defeating five-time world champions Brazil 2-1 in their pre-quarterfinal encounter.

The result keeps England’s hopes of lifting the FIFA World Cup alive, while Mexico’s campaign comes to an end despite a determined performance in front of their home crowd.
