POONCH (Kashmir English): A proud daughter of Tatta Pani in AJK, Dr. Safia Akhtar has brought honour to the whole region as she passed out as Lieutenant Commander in the Pakistan Navy.
Dr. Safia Akhtar was pinned ranks of Lieutenant Commander at PNS Bahadur Karachi. She holds the distinction of being the first female Lieutenant Commander from Tatta Pani Poonch, the confluence of three districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Safia Akhtar belongs to Kunuian Poonch, a suburban area of Tatta Pani, and is the daughter of retired District and Sessions Judge Sardar Akhtar Hussain and sister of young lawyer Sardar Iqbal Akhtar Advocate.
