RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): A new digital traffic challan system has been launched in Rawalpindi based on video evidence for the first time in the city.
Under the new “One App/Evidence-Based Challaning” system, video recordings of traffic violations will be preserved and made verifiable, ensuring transparency in imposing fines.
According to Traffic officials, the system will also allow on-the-spot verification of identity cards, driving licences and FIR-related records.
Ownership, fitness certificates and vehicle route permits will also be verified on the spot through the integrated digital system.
Authorities have warned that digital action would also be taken against encroachments and environmental violations in the garrison city.
Evidence-based challans
Traffic violations are recorded via video, ensuring transparency and accountability. Traffic wardens use a centralized app for instantaneous on-the-spot verification of CNICs, driving licenses, and FIR records.
The system allows immediate checking of vehicle ownership, fitness certificates, and route permits.
The digital system covers traffic violations, encroachment issues, and environmental violations as it aims to eliminate on-spot disputes by offering verifiable digital records.
