SHADRA (Kashmir English): The Sharda Sub-Division of Azad Kashmir celebrated Defense and Martyrs Day with utmost patriotic enthusiasm, reaffirming allegiance to the defense and stability of the country.
Local Unit Commander Zeeshan Kalabash, on this occasion, awarded Muarkha Haq Medals to those who remained steadfast in support of Pakistani forces in the battle for justice, such as Assistant Commissioner Raja Bilal and DSP Sharda Sardar Fayyaz Sarwar.
Saluting the Martyrs
On the occasion of Defense and Martyrs Day, flower garlands were laid on martyrs’ graves, while gift parcels were given to their families by the Pakistan Army. The ceremony was a reminder of the sacrifices by the armed forces to protect the nation, especially in the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War.
Renewing the Pledge
The ceremony was concluded by reaffirming the commitment to stand side by side with the armed forces, as they did during the 1965 and 2025 wars, to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Prayers were performed for the prosperity, safety, and glory of Pakistan.

Defense and Martyrs Day is commemorated every year on September 6 to honor the courage and sacrifices of Pakistani soldiers who had defended the nation from the Indian army in 1965.
