ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis have crossed $3.6 billion in December 2025.
According to media reports, Advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Shahzad, has said that remittances in December 2025 were about 17 percent higher than the $3.1 billion sent in December last year.
This increase was recorded at 13 percent compared to the $3.2 billion sent in November 2025.
Khurram Shahzad further said that during the first half of the fiscal year 2026, total remittances have reached $19.7 billion, which is 14 percent more than the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The Advisor to the Finance Minister expressed hope that total remittances in fiscal year 2026 will exceed $41 billion.
Earlier, the State Bank of Pakistan showed an increase of $16 million in its foreign exchange reserves.
The SBP foreign exchange reserves are at $15.9 billion as of ending December 19, 2025.
Based on data provided by the SBP every week, the overall foreign exchange reserves held by the country were recorded at $21.023 billion.
The country’s reserves fell by US$66 million to close the week at US$5.12 billion.
As per Topline Securities, the liquid reserves of SBP are estimated to touch $17.4 billion in June next year.
