ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): All public and private banks in Pakistan are ready to deduct Zakat from savings and other similar accounts in the upcoming Islamic month of Ramazan 2026.
Every year, the federal government, after analyzing various factors, announces the minimum limit or Nisab for Zakat deduction. Nisab is the minimum value that a person must have to be obligated to pay this obligatory charity.
Last year, the Nisab amount was set at Rs 179,689, and under it, banks used to deduct 2.5 percent of the balance in Zakat accounts if it exceeded this limit.
Which accounts will not have Zakat deducted? All savings and PLS accounts with a value less than the Nisab will be exempted from Zakat deduction.
Zakat Deduction Date
All banks in Pakistan will deduct Zakat on the first day of Ramazan, which is likely to be on February 19 or 20, 2026. If Sha’ban is 29 days long, the first day of Ramadan will be on February 19, 2026. However, if Sha’ban is 30 days long, Ramadan will begin on February 20, 2026.
