COLOMBO (Kashmir English): New Zealand Player Mark Chapman said that Pakistan’s spin attack remains their greatest weapon, specifically the mystery of Usman Tariq, ahead of their Super 8 clash against Pakistan.
The crucial match is set to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday at 6:30 pm (PST).
“He has a pretty unique action with the way that he stops at the crease, so that’s something to factor in,” Chapman said, while addressing a press conference.
Chapman said that the conditions in this region are such that the toss becomes important. Our players have played cricket here, so they know the conditions.
He added that the pitches in India have been helpful for the batters, the bowlers have faced difficulties, the chances for the bowlers in India were less, and spinners can be important in these conditions.
“I think here, especially, given the slower nature of the pitch along with the slightly bigger boundaries as well, you have to certainly change your game plan,” he said.
Mitchell Santner to return
Ahead of Pakistan’s Super 8 clash against New Zealand, Kiwi’s captain Mitchell Santner has fully recovered from illness and is likely to be part of the Playing XI in the T20 World Cup Super 8 game.
Addressing a press conference, New Zealand player Mark Chapman confirmed that Mitchell Santner has recovered and “should be in their XI for Saturday’s T20 World Cup Super Eights game against Pakistan.”
“Pakistan is one of the teams we’ve played probably the most frequently over the last few years,” Chapman said. “We’re well aware of what they’re going to bring.”
