SAMAHNI (Kashmir English): In response to the ongoing tense situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the rising spread of misinformation on social media, the local administration of Samahni has officially set up a dedicated Samahni control room to deliver accurate information to the public and curb the spread of fake news.

According to a notification issued from the office of Assistant Commissioner Samahni, the move aims to ensure timely and reliable updates reach the people, especially those living close to the LoC who are directly affected by the current situation.

The Samahni control room will serve as the primary source for verified information, replacing uncertainty with facts. A team of officials has already been assigned to duty at the control room and instructed to remain in continuous contact with their senior officers. It has been made mandatory for all designated staff to remain on duty round the clock.

The names of the officials assigned include Amjad Hussain, Abid Nawaz, Saeed Ahmed, Idrees Ahmed, Rashid Subhani, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Suleman, Muhammad Farooq, Habib Irshad, Aqeel Anam, Rahmat Khan Pasha, and Zulfiqar Ahmed. According to the administration, all these personnel are expected to maintain 24-hour presence and coordination to ensure uninterrupted flow of verified information.

The locals have welcomed the move, hoping that it will be able to counter the confusion created by spreading misinformation and misleading social media posts. With the control room in Samahni set up, residents are being encouraged to rely on official communication for updates regarding the situation at the border.

Earlier, Pakistani authorities had already taken strong action to curb the spread of misinformation. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a comprehensive crackdown on Indian-backed social media bots and fake accounts that were pushing anti-Pakistan narratives online. Over 45 suspicious URLs have been identified and reported to relevant platforms for immediate action.

Together with these broader national efforts, the establishment of the Samahni control room marks a significant local step toward defending truth and maintaining order in a time of heightened regional tension. Residents are urged to utilise this new resource and avoid unverified sources, especially during such sensitive circumstances.
