MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad on April 12, 2025, urged the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to impose an Israeli products boycott through a formal notification, following a unanimous decision.
President of the Central Bar Association, Syed Anees-ul-Hasan Gilani has formally written to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, requesting an immediate ban on all Israeli products in the region.
The letter dated April 12, 2025, states that during its General Body meeting on April 10 2025, the Bar Association made the decision unanimously. All members of the association gathered in the meeting chose to implement an Israeli products boycott while expressing their worry about the continuation of inhumane Israeli policies and actions.
The Central Bar stressed that purchases from Israeli-made products that go through multinational brands ultimately benefit an oppressive regime. The letter demands that Azad Kashmir establish an outright ban on products as this stands as both a moral and humanitarian imperative.
The association urged the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government to take practical steps by officially issuing a notification for the ban. They emphasised that a written order would ensure proper enforcement and reflect the government’s commitment to human rights.
In the letter, the Bar Association called on the Chief Executive of Azad Kashmir to implement the ban immediately and inform the Bar accordingly.
The Central Bar also appealed to all sectors, especially government institutions, to avoid the use of Israeli products until the official notification is released. They expressed hope that the Prime Minister would take swift action on this matter
The letter ends with a respectful request for a formal response regarding the government’s decision. It is signed by Syed Anees-ul-Hasan Gilani, President of the Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad.
